 Woof Pack News

News - Hammond K9 Unit lost two of their dogs in 2007.
K-9 Tommy, a dual-purpose Belgian Malinois, was retired when he was
diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), also known as
immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA)"Autoimmune" literally means
the immunity against the self."Hemolytic" is the destruction of red
blood cells. "Anemia" is a clinical sign, not a disease. Anemia is
defined as a decrease in the number of red blood cells (RBC's) or the
amount of hemoglobin, resulting in a decrease in the oxygen- carrying
capacity of the blood.
K-9 Rex, a dual purpose German Shepherd, was retired after being
diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer.

News - Hammond K9 Unit will welcome two new K9 teams.
Two new K9 teams are scheduled to start class at Vohne Liche Kennels
on June 11th, 2007. Both teams will be dual purpose narcitcs detection
teams. This will bring our K9 unit up to a total of 5 dual purpose
narcotics teams and one dual purpose bomb team.

News - We will be adding a Woof Pack photo gallery of our dogs in action
with pictures taken during training and at various demonstrations.
